Gavin Newsom has casted doubt on the relationship between Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift, while also taking a shot at the GOP debate.
The California Governor made the comments while attending the Republican Debate at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley, California, on Wednesday.
In a brief interview with CBS News, Newsom dismissed the debate as a ‘Vice Presidential debate at best’.
Seven candidates qualified for the debate stage, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, biotech entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy, former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley, South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott, former Vice President Mike Pence, former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, and North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum.
Prior to the debate, Newsom said: ‘I really mean this, this is a Vice Presidential debate at best. This is the JV team. Donald Trump is running away with this.’

The Governor continued: ‘Not just a double digit lead, forty plus percent in a poll that came out today. This is the XFL, it’s entertainment I guess.
‘I’m here to witness it, watch it, but I am also here to call out the BS and the misinformation and to make a case again for the Biden record.’
Trump skipped the event and instead spoke to auto industry union workers in a Detroit suburb – notably kicking off an hour ahead of the debate.
Trump has suggested he could bypass all of the primary debates, noting that the events are beneath him since no candidate can touch his polling levels.
On Monday, during a campaign stop in Summerville, South Carolina, the ex-President called the Republican primary debates ‘stupid.’
‘Basically, it’s a job interview. You look at the debates, it’s a job interview, and so far, I’m not too interested,’ he said at a campaign field office.
As well as taking aim at the debate, Newsom also passed comment about the new romance surrounding Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce.
A TMZ reporter asked the Governor: ‘Taylor Swift dating Travis Kelce, what’s your take?’
Smiling gleefully, Newsom responded: ‘I know it is actually the only thing people are talking about, they ain’t gonna be tuning into the debate.
‘That’s the real debate, is it real, is it not.’

Their new romance has stunned the world this week, but until earlier today, neither of the high-profile pair had publicly addressed the situation, after they were spotted leaving Arrowhead Stadium together in his vintage convertible.
Speaking alongside his brother Jason on the latest episode of their popular New Heights podcast, Travis has now finally broken his silence and addressed ‘the rollercoaster of life’, saying: ‘Shout out to Taylor for pulling up. That was pretty ballsy.
‘I just thought it was awesome how everyone in the suite had nothing but great things to say about her. The friends and family. She looked amazing, everybody was talking about her in a great light.
‘On top of that, the day went perfect for Chiefs fans of course. We script it all ladies and gentlemen. It was just impressive.’

‘To see the slow motion chest bumps, to see the high fives with mom, to see how the Chiefs kingdom was all excited she was there, that s*** was absolutely hysterical, it was definitely a game I’ll remember, that’s for damn sure,’ Travis added. ‘And then we just slid off in the getaway car in the end…
‘Shout out to Taylor for coming through and seeing me rock the stage.’
The days since have been something of a whirlwind for Travis and Taylor, with the entire world desperate for more information about their romance, like Newsom.

Travis himself is a huge name in the world of the NFL, but his romance with Taylor has taken him to the next level – with paparazzi now gathered outside his house.
‘They all have British accents or something European,’ he joked on the podcast, before his brother Jason asked how he knew they were paparazzi.
In images acquired by TMZ, Swift was spotted cuddling up to her new beau and affectionately putting her arm around him at a private party at Prime Social in Kansas City, Missouri.
Following the game, the pair — who reportedly started dating in July — enjoyed an ‘affectionate’ late-night dinner date and evening out until 2 a.m.
The couple had also reportedly paid for everybody’s dinner to clear out the restaurant and have some privacy for themselves.
‘Travis bought out the restaurant for his family and team,’ an eyewitness had previously told Entertainment Tonight.

The source also revealed that Swift made her arrival while ‘wearing a denim dress’ and was spotted ‘snacking, having some cocktails and dancing alongside Travis’.

Despite the publicly revealing their romance at the game and spending the weekend together, a source said Swift and her new beau are ‘not rushing into anything serious’ but instead ‘enjoying life’ together.
‘Both are very career-focused, so the focus is on that for now,’ the source added. ‘But that’s not going to stop them from enjoying life when it’s the right moment.’

The pair were first romantically linked when it was revealed that the Kansas City Chiefs tight end attended her Eras Tour concert and had tried to give her his number.
On an earlier episode of his podcast, he revealed he went to her show at Arrowhead Stadium but was unable to get her number.
‘I was disappointed that she doesn’t talk before or after her shows because she has to save her voice for the 44 songs that she sings,’ he said at the time.
‘I was a little bit hurt I didn’t get to hand her one of the bracelets I made for her,’ he continued.
